Artist Statement
What are we content with being blind to? My subject matter originates largely from the ongoing construction process of my identity. I feel the vulnerability of the objects I make and abstract them, guard them. I construct the shapes of my experience as a white, femme, traumatized, resilient, and resourceful human in a tumultuous world. While my work is expansive in medium and broaches several topics surrounding social justice, identity construction, and the import of queering spaces, I believe it asks the overarching question, “where is safety felt?” and whether the frank lack of true safety is compatible with tenderness.
